The Organisation:

Radju Marija is a civil, private, not-for-profit organisation formed by priests, religious and lay people. Radju Marija supports itself exclusively through listeners’ donations.
Radju Marija is a Marian instrument which responds to the appeal of the Blessed Virgin Mary, through prayer and the teaching of the Catholic faith.

The Role:

The person would be responsible for the coordination of the suitably selected and trained volunteers in Malta who help to raise awareness, increase the number of listeners and support the radio. The activities of the Promoter include technical, editorial and promotional duties.

Main Knowledge:

• Have a thorough knowledge of the Radju Marija Project in all its operational aspects;
• Ability to adopt methods of communication designed to positively engage the audience (personal ability or acquired at university, on courses or at specialist seminars);
• Good organizational skills;
• Perfect knowledge of Maltese and English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of Italian will be considered an asset;
• Ability to coordinate groups of people of different background and age, and with different approaches.

Characteristics and Skills:

• Identify the needs of the association, together with his/her immediate superiors;
• Schedule services and activities (promotional, editorial, technical) for the entire country (organize the workers called “ants”);
• Establish the basic stages of the strategic and operative programme to be implemented
• Identifying the people to involve: finding volunteers – selection and assignment of tasks – insertion in the organization – training – supervision -evaluation of work – recognition of the contribution of the volunteers – verification.

General Skills:

• Ability to organize
• Know how to programme services, activities and interventions
• Know how to assign tasks based on available people
• Know how to train and stimulate cohesive working groups to reach the desired goal.

Specific Skills:

• Available to travel throughout Malta and Gozo (driving licence required);
• Ability to work flexibly over a 7 day period up to 40 hours a week, with the possibility of working on weekends and public holidays, depending on the requirements;
• Share information by coordinating actions in a cooperative context, create a good organizational atmosphere;
• Communications skills, complete adherence to the mission of Radju Marija, ability to work in teams.
Operational Activities:
• Implements strategies with specific actions in Malta and Gozo;
• Defines roles and responsibilities of all volunteer activities (mobile booths, distribution of materials, etc.);
• Represents the association at meetings with the volunteers;
• Set up groups of volunteers to interface with contacts in the country (priests and various leaders) in order to be able to organize meetings and raise awareness of Radju Marija activities;
• Organizes the necessary logistics for events and promotional campaigns in Malta;
• Makes sure that communications materials are efficiently and suitably distributed in the country, providing the necessary instructions;
• Finds volunteers to organize external transmissions (mobile booths).

Initial Training:

WFRM will facilitate the arrival of the new Promoter by providing about five days of induction and orientation training at the WFRM Continental offices or at the radio station. If necessary, or if there are special requirements, it is possible to provide further training at Headquarters in Italy.

Ongoing Training:

Depending with the results of the evaluation, a course of local and/or continental training will be defined.

Editorial Assistant on Full Time Basis

 

The Organisation:

Radju Marija is a Marian instrument which responds to the appeal of the Blessed Virgin Mary, through prayer and the teaching of the Catholic faith.

The Role and its Functions:

The selected candidate, who will be reporting to Editorial Director, will be responsible for assisting in spreading the Mission of Radio Maria through radio broadcasts aimed at evangelising listeners according to the Guiding Principles of Radio Maria and the Magisterium of the Church. Preparing the quarterly schedule whilst always striving to find producers and presenters able to produce programmes of excellent quality.

Main Knowledge:

• Have a thorough knowledge of the Radju Marija Project in all its operational aspects;
• Perfect knowledge of Maltese and English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of Italian will be considered an asset;
• Excellent time management skills

Essential Requirements:

• Show strong interest in audio and broadcast radio studio activities;
• Be able to prepare the quarterly broadcast schedule in collaboration with the Editorial Director
• Evaluate new content proposals from prospective producers
• Plan scheduling of programmes and recording slots where necessary
• Liaise with the technical department in case of recordings or outside broadcasting
• Look out for any important events to be aired according to the yearly liturgical calendar
• Update promos and highlights to be aired
• Prepare content for quarterly leaflet
• Possess good computer background (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
• Be able to create a good rapport with producers
• Liaise with the producers of programmes on Radju Marija in order to implement directives and policies of the radio station

Technical Operator on Full Time Basis

 

The Organisation:

Radju Marija is a Marian instrument which responds to the appeal of the Blessed Virgin Mary, through prayer and the teaching of the Catholic faith.

The Role and its Functions:

Assisting the Senior Technical Operator to ensure the perfect functionality of all audio-frequency & IT equipment for broadcast. Keep the staff and volunteers informed about the use of equipment and broadcast techniques. Assist in ensuring that the broadcast quality is always maintained at its best.

Main Knowledge:

• Have a thorough knowledge of the Radju Marija Project in all its operational aspects;
• Good time management skills;
• Perfect knowledge of Maltese and English (both written and spoken). Knowledge of Italian will be considered an asset;

Essential Requirements:

• Strong interest in audio and broadcast radio studio activities;
• Great team-worker with most favourable human relations;
• Solid communication skills and the ability and attitude to transfer efficiently his personal knowledge to the non-technical persons (ex. Volunteers);
• Content sensitive of what is broadcasted/aired;
• Flexibility to alter shifts/days off to accommodate projects and departmental objectives;
• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays;
• Attitude to be guided;
• Diligence and professionalism;
• Good organizational skills;
• Excellent hearing in order to learn properly how to perform the sound & audio settings (equalisations, microphone controls and audio compressors);
• Ability to speak on the microphone;
• Good computer background (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.);
• Predisposition/good attitude to proper use and maintenance of equipment in an efficient audio studio (Hybrid, Codec, Broadcast Mixing Console);
• Disposition to learn the correct use of the broadcast automation software;
• Adequate knowledge for software audio recording and editing like Audition, Soundforge, Wavelab, Audacity, Audio Editor, Pro Tools, Cubase, etc…,);
• Being able to provide technical support on-site and remotely;
• The ideal candidate will be expected to perform ancillary job functions as needed to support the day-today operations of the department.

Main Tasks:

• Constantly quality checks of the broadcasted audio signal;
• Verifies the technical (audio) quality of the live and recorded programs;
• Offers assistance and support to staff, volunteers and guests for the outside and studio broadcasting;
• Verifies the programming and scheduling technical quality of the radio automation software;
• Accomplish and assists in audio recordings;
• Edits recorded audio materials and work in post-production;
• Performs frequently maintenance of the software and hardware automation system & audio equipment;
• Manages the audio streaming encoding PC, for internet streaming and the Logger PC for non-stop recording;
• Creates & backups the audio archives and documents on office computers;
• Manages the materials in the studio, warehouse and mobile studios. (Inventory, reorder, reparations);
• Maintain the contacts with consultants and external suppliers (Server management and offices peripherals, internet access, manage e-mail server maintenance, manage the audio and IT equipment);
• Organises the formation and training, prepares the training materials, of the staff & volunteers, working in the studios and in the outside broadcasting;
• Update the audio and data cable schemes of the studio wiring;
• Physical effort such as standing, walking, frequent lifting;
• Manual dexterity in the operation of equipment; may require extended periods of time at a keyboard and screen.

Education and Professional Background:

• Technical Certificate or specialisation in audio-frequency would be considered an asset;
• Good to excellent spoken and written Maltese and English. Knowledge of Italian would be considered an asset.

Specific Skills:

• Available to travel throughout Malta and Gozo (driving licence required);
• Ability to work flexibly and under pressure over a 7 day period, with the possibility of working on weekends and public holidays, depending on the requirements;
• At times, working overtime may be required, depending on the station’s requirements;
• Punctuality is of the essence as everything related to the job is time sensitive due to live transmissions;
• Adhere to the national and organisational transmission rules and ethics;
• Communications skills, complete adherence to the mission of Radju Marija, ability to work in teams;
• Have a clean police conduct.

Initial Training:

Internal training will be provided on site at Radju Marija.
