Mariathon 2021

Mariathon 2021 – Radju Marija Malta listeners donate €41,000 in aid of Radio Maria Portugal and Radio Maria South Sudan

From Wednesday 12th to Friday 14th May, Radju Marija Malta joined the rest of the World Family of Radio Maria for the annual Mariathon where Radio Maria listeners around the world offer donations for the expansion of the radio in more countries.

This year, Radju Marija Malta chose to help Rádio Maria Portugal and Radio Maria South Sudan. Two projects close to the Maltese listeners’ hearts who answered Fr Antoine’s appeal and generously donated €41,000.

During these three days the Mariathon ran from 8am to 5pm following a special schedule of live programmes from our studios including updates and links with other Radio Station Directors.

On Thursday 13th May Radju Marija (Malta) joined Rádio Maria Portugal for the very first transmission of this radio station being the Holy Rosary. A very touching moment of fraternity embracing thousands of listeners praying this beautiful prayer on the 40th anniversary on the murder attempt of John Paul II. On Thursday Fr Antoine interviewed the Director of Rádio Maria Portugal Fr Marco Fernando da Silva Luis.

During the Mariathon days Fr Antoine interviewed and presented certificates and prizes to the three winners of the St Joseph Drawing Competition. These young listeners where accompanied by their parents and shared their experience.

On Friday 14th May, Fr Antoine interviewed Fr Brian Gialanze, Parish Priest of Kalkara who is also a volunteer presenter on Radju Marija hosting the programme Hello Kellimni… every Friday. Fr Antoine wished to interview Fr Brian as he has been listening Radju Marija for a long time and attributes his calling to priesthood to Radju Marija.

Big thanks to all our staff (administration, editorial, promotion and technical), volunteers who helped by answering the phones, those in the reception area, producers and all those who helped during these day but most of all heartfelt thanks to our listeners for their generosity. On behalf of the World Family of Radio Maria, Rádio Maria Portugal and Radio Maria South Sudan once again THANK YOU!!
